Blue Veranda

This painting is an exploration of being alone, in a place you cannot control, but still being comfortable in a strange, dream-like, liminal place. I liked playing with the bright blue background against the monochrome. I was inspired by Michelangelo's "The Creation of Adam," with the imagery of the hands reaching in space. Because of the representation of an isolated hand, there's a suggestion that you can connect with spirituality within yourself.
